My team, in collaboration with the Children’s Museum of the Upstate, submitted an action plan containing a proposal to address the biggest issues involving the restroom experience at the museum, in particular the difficulty of finding them and the uninviting color that some of them are painted. To solve the former issue we proposed trails of non-slip vinyl stickers depicting bubbles on the museum floor, leading to the restrooms, which also adds an element of play and whimsy for the kids. As an added bonus, bubbles are often associated with cleanliness. To address the paint issue we created a new color scheme for the restrooms, utilizing pastel and cool tones to create a calmer atmosphere.

Our team made multiple in-person visits to the museum to talk to staff members and customers about the restroom experience, in order to decide what direction to move in. We were also given a hypothetical budget of $2,400, which forced us to consider our proposal in more practical terms. In late April 2026 we presented our action plan to several members of the museum’s staff.
